Dr. Cindy Ho obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree with Dean’s Honours from the University of Waterloo in 2000. She subsequently obtained a PhD degree in Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia in 2008. Her current research, conducted in collaboration with investigators at UBC and the UWaterloo, is focused on studying visual perception deficits in children and adults with amblyopia (lazy eye). She has also been involved in research at the Eye Care Centre working alongside ophthalmologists specializing in cataract surgery and corneal disease. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, Optometry & Vision Science, Journal of Vision, Vision Research, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science.
Dr. Ho enjoys seeing patients of all ages. Her special interests include: specialized scleral lens fitting for keratoconus, post-corneal surgery, ocular surface disease; visual development & pediatrics; myopia control & orthokeratology; vision training & prism therapies for eye coordination, alignment, double vision issues. She is an ImPACT® Test Provider and provides co-managed care to patients currently undergoing concussion treatment with other healthcare professionals to optimize their rehabilitation process.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Ho is involved with the Optometry Examining Board of Canada that administers the national entry-to-practice board examinations in Canada. She enjoys staying current with research on nutrition as it pertains to eye health and loves sharing knowledge on prevention of eye disease with her patients. When she isn’t working hard on her research or at the clinic, Dr. Ho enjoys snowboarding, surfing, yoga, pilates, cooking, gardening (perennials only please!) and spending time with her husband Chris and son Daniel. She has traveled around the world – both for fun and to provide eye care to those in need. Places traveled include Jamaica, Honduras, Mexico, Belize, Thailand, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Hawaii, China, and Malaysia.
