Dr. Karen Plangg

Optometrist, BSc, OD

Born and raised in Vancouver, Dr. Karen Plangg attended undergrad at UBC and then went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo and graduated in 2004. In her final year she completed an ocular disease rotation where she spent four months at an eye hospital in Kenya providing school vision screenings in remote villages.

After graduation Dr. Plangg started a residency in low vision and paediatrics at the University of California, Berkeley. Shortly thereafter, Karen moved to New Zealand where she was a clinical supervisor for 3rd and 4th year students at the University of Auckland’s Optometry program.

After completing her one-year term in New Zealand, Karen returned to practice in her hometown of Vancouver. In her free time, Karen enjoys hobbies like knitting, cooking, and spending time with her husband and 2 kids. As a mother herself, Dr Plangg is wonderful with kids and happy to see patients of all ages.
