Dr. Mowbray completed a double major in his undergraduate studies: a Bachelor of Science at the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Business Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University. He then went on to get his Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Waterloo, graduating with the class of 1999.
After graduating he moved to Vancouver and joined Dr. Robin Simpson here at MPOC as an associate. In 2006, Dr. Mowbray took over ownership of the clinic, and proceeded to expand the practice to match the growth, and diversity, of our neighbourhood.
Now, 20 years later, our Team has grown to more than 40 people, and serving over 82,000 patients. This magnitude of expansion required us to move from our original location to our new location at 450 East Broadway. Dr Mowbray oversaw this significant build of our now 4,800 ft² space, which includes our 300 ft² covered patio – making us the first clinic in Vancouver to have a patio for our staff to take their breaks on.
Dr Mowbray has retired from seeing patients since 2020, and soon after brought in Dr Ev Lo as a partner to run all clinical operations. Although he’s no longer involved in patient care or clinical operations, he can still be found around the clinic helping out with building operations, as he remains an owner of our amazing new space.
He enjoys spending his time with his wife Cindy, stepdaughter Evelyne, and their cats. His hobbies include collecting vinyl records, dj’ing, golf, yoga, paddle boarding, and world travel.
